I Can Draw and Paint
4 to 5 year olds
In this class starting to read the ABC's goes hand-in-hand with starting to draw. Your child will quickly learn to recognize letterforms that can go together to draw subjects of interest to younger students. As the young artist's confidence in drawing progresses beginning painting skills will also be introduced.
Exploring Drawing and Painting
5 and 6 year olds / 6 to 8 year olds
Young artists will start with the basics which includes the process of learning to draw as well as exploring and learning to use watercolor, colored pencil, oil and chalk pastels. Your child will learn to create drawings from their imagination, observation, photographs, and illustrations with fun and educational projects.
Basic Drawing and Painting
8 to 12 year olds / 8 year olds to adults
A 'guided' drawing class introducing the basics of drawing while challenging older students to expand their knowledge with a variety of drawing projects. An emphasis is placed on learning to draw independently while developing skill and technique in perspective and 3D drawing, shading, and drawing people using pencil, pastel, charcoal, watercolor and acrylic paint.
Basic Media and Techniques
6 and 8 year olds
This class is recommended for younger students who have taken Basic Drawing and Painting. Students will further explore a variety of materials, and will learn techniques to further develop their drawing and painting skills. Class projects will include beginning printmaking, and paper mosaic using animals, still life, and the human face as subject matter.
Media and Techniques
8 year olds to adults
Older students are encouraged to develop their own creative drawing approach in this class by using a variety of styles and art materials. Each class project explores the drawing of animals and plants from nature, still life, perspective, human faces, proportion and figures. Students will use a variety of media, basic printmaking, paper mosaic, and 3-D work.
Pastels, Acrylics and Oils
10 years to adults
Work using pastels, acrylics, and oils with painter Joyce Prigot. This representational painting class is for students with basic drawing skills and emphasizes composition, value structure, color coordination and edge control. Learn from still-life set-ups, photographs, the human form and self-reflection in mirrors.
